THE PROBLEM WITH AI WRITING
You can spot AI writing immediately. The giveaways:
- Starts with "Certainly!" or "Great question!"
- Uses "delve", "tapestry", "nuanced", "robust", "multifaceted" constantly
- Every sentence is the same length
- Everything is presented in bullet points
- Excessive hedging: "It's worth noting that...", "It's important to consider..."
- Balanced to the point of being useless ("On one hand... on the other hand...")
- Sounds like a corporate brochure
Here's how to fix all of it.
THE MASTER HUMANISATION PROMPT
Add this to any AI-written piece before publishing:
"Rewrite this to sound like a specific human wrote it. Apply these rules:
- Vary sentence length dramatically — mix very short sentences with longer ones
- Remove all filler phrases: 'it's worth noting', 'it's important to', 'certainly', 'indeed'
- Remove these words entirely: delve, tapestry, nuanced, robust, synergy, leverage, multifaceted, holistic
- Replace passive voice with active voice throughout
- Add one concrete, specific example that could only come from real experience
- Start at least 2 sentences with 'And' or 'But'
- Cut the first paragraph — it's almost always setup that can be deleted
- Make the opening sentence something a real person would actually say
Text to rewrite: [PASTE]"
STYLE MATCHING TECHNIQUE
Find a piece of writing you love — a blog post, email, article — and use it as a style template:
"Analyse the writing style in this example: [PASTE EXAMPLE]. Identify: sentence structure patterns, vocabulary level, use of punctuation, tone, and any distinctive habits. Now rewrite this draft [PASTE DRAFT] using exactly the same style."
THE PERSONAL VOICE INJECTION TECHNIQUE
The best way to make AI writing sound like you:
Step 1: Write 3-5 bullet points of raw thoughts in your own words (no editing, no polishing) Step 2: Paste them with this prompt: "Here are my raw thoughts on [TOPIC]: [PASTE BULLETS]. Write a [LENGTH] [CONTENT TYPE] that captures these ideas in my voice. The voice should sound like someone talking — direct, conversational, opinionated. Don't sanitise my opinions into corporate speak."
SPECIFIC FIXES FOR COMMON AI TELLS
Opening lines: BAD: "In today's rapidly evolving landscape..." BAD: "Artificial intelligence has transformed the way we..." FIX: "Here's what nobody tells you about [TOPIC]:" or start mid-thought: "The biggest mistake I see is..."
Transitions: BAD: "Furthermore...", "Moreover...", "Additionally..." GOOD: "And...", "But...", "Here's the thing:", "This matters because:", "The result?"
Conclusions: BAD: "In conclusion, it is evident that [REPEAT EVERYTHING JUST SAID]" GOOD: End with a specific implication, a question, or the thing you want the reader to do next.
BEFORE/AFTER EXAMPLE
BEFORE (AI): "In today's competitive landscape, it is essential for businesses to leverage artificial intelligence in order to remain relevant. The nuanced approaches to implementing such technology require a robust strategy."
AFTER (Human): "Businesses that ignore AI aren't just behind — they're bleeding hours every week on tasks that their competitors automated 18 months ago. Here's how to stop that."
